“Neighborhood Roots Run Deep in the Vine City and English Avenue Areas”

In 1991, World Youth Alliance Inc. was established in response to an increase in the plight of at risk youth. Its purpose was to develop a cadre of youth leaders and provide at risk youth unique opportunities to mobilize their resources and collectively address issues of personal and community significance. Operational in 1993, one of WYA'S immediate goals was to uniquely reverse the spiraling trend of youth crisis.

C.I.A.J. World Youth Alliance, Inc. is a non profit organization celebrating its 10th year in Atlanta, Georgia. World Youth Alliance, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization established to empower youth for local and global leadership through training, education, travel, and community service. Over the years World Youth Alliance, Inc. has envisioned, implemented, and today continues to successfully execute a host of effective youth service programs.

One of our most successful programs is the Visions In Practice (V.I.P.) Program, that also embraces our mission, which is to empower our youth for local citizenship and global leadership. The choice nearly eight years ago by World Youth Alliance, Inc. to select an Atlanta public school in the Vine City area was precipitated largely by the deep, rich historical character embedded in this unique Atlanta Neighborhood Planned Community Unit. Atlanta’s Vine City community is steeped in tradition dating back to as early as 1871. In the early 1900’s , sections of Vine City became a Mecca for a host of Atlanta's prominent African-American’s whose legacies have impacted global history.

In 2001, our V.I.P. Program participants are proud to walk the same streets, play on the same playgrounds, attend the same schools, and yes, even drink from the same water fountains as these life-long Vine City residents have done heretofore.

Culturally, the Vine City and English Avenue areas both offer a formidable group of pioneers, past and present who are real and tangible role models. Today, these voices echo the call to strive for excellence in the realization that everyone is self-made and has the ability to actualize their dreams and aspirations.
